From Chakras to Jackals: My First Encounter with Anubis

It was during my very first healing session that I met him.
At the time, I had no idea what to expect - I’d never had energy healing before. My mom had just taken her first level or two of Healing Touch and invited me over to try it. We were right at the beginning of our mother-daughter journey, looking to explore both healing and the “why” behind my intuitive abilities.
I remember lying on her table, staring nervously at the dining room light fixture. I closed my eyes and willed myself to relax. Slowly, as I sank deeper into the healing, my mind’s eye opened to a breathtaking vision: women in vibrant colors dancing in intricate, swirling patterns. They swirled around each other creating rainbows of colors with their skirts and scarves.
That’s when I realized - these are my chakras! (Apparently, they know choreography.)
The swirling slowed and one by one, the dancers lined up. Red twirled and gracefully collapsed to reveal Orange. Orange spun and gave way to Yellow. Yellow to Green. Green to Blue. Blue to Indigo. Finally, Violet swirled dramatically, scarves flying, before collapsing too and in her collapse, revealed him.
A strong, athletic man with the head of a dog… though not quite. His nose was longer, his ears more defined. He simply stood, watching me. A deep hum filled my ears as my body began to vibrate softly. I stared, trying to figure out what on earth (or beyond it) I was looking at. Then, with one smooth motion, he removed the jackal head, revealing a man’s face.
The dancers rose and resumed their movements, but his eyes never left mine. It wasn’t just a stare. It was like he was peering into my soul. I felt a steadiness, almost like he was silently saying, “You’re on a path now.” Just as I was about to ask why he was there, I heard a scroll unfurl. In front of me, hieroglyphs of light appeared. I heard a voice say, "Anubis"as I stared at the hieroglyphs And then - snap - I was back in my body, lying on the table.
That was my first meeting with him.The first time Anubis appeared.
So… Who Exactly Is Anubis?
In Egyptian mythology, Anubis is the jackal-headed god of death, mummification, and the sacred passage between life and the afterlife. He’s the one who weighs the heart against the feather of Ma’at to determine a soul’s fate.
In other words - he’s not just hanging out in graveyards, he’s the ultimate guide, protector, and truth-checker. Many healers and intuitives (myself included) experience him not as scary or dark, but as steady, grounding, and deeply compassionate. He has this way of showing up when transformation is happening; but he also has deep and profound messages about love, intimate connection, and the soul. He is the kind of cosmic mentor who says, “Whether you believe it or not, you are ready.”
